Did you know that God had a dream? His dream is YOU!
Genesis 1:1 & 26-28 "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.” So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.”
Imagine that. God made the earth as a place for us to live. We were created in God’s image and His likeness, humanity was created to be able to have unhindered relationship with God Himself. But because of pride and disobedience humanity lost that close connection with God and sin then entered our world. However, God’s dream would not be frustrated! Jesus was God’s fulfilled dream for our re-connection to Him.

Luke 14:23 “Then the master told his servant, ‘Go out to the roads and country lanes and compel them to come in, so that my house will be full.
Jesus’ dream is that His house will be full.
And we at IVC have a dream too! Our dream is to do our part in Jesus’ dream. We are calling this DREAM 2021! We use 3 simple words to help us move in that direction : HEALTH, GROWTH and EXPANSION. Healthy things grow strong and can expand to create more, 2019 will be a year to start to work toward GROWTH. We have also come up with 4 statements which we can then use to gauge our effectiveness, they are : Loving God, Sharing God’s Love, Introducing People to Jesus and Making a Difference.
IVC is a church of the Metro Birmingham area spread across our city from Gardendale, to Montevallo, Wilsonville, to Bessemer, Irondale to Inverness and all points in between. The big question is, how do we pastor this city? That Big Question is what drives our vision of Loving God, Sharing God’s Love, Introducing People to Jesus and Making a Difference. This God size task will require RADICAL GENEROSITY from all of us.
