JANUARY VISION NIGHTS SYNOPSIS
Over the last 4 Sunday nights, over 150 adults and youth have taken part in discussing the Holy Spirit’s direction for our church in 2012. We have determined that our church’s vision centers around the following 6 motives:
- Reaching out to the lost
- Local ministry to the poor
- Holy Spirit ministry
- Diversity of congregation
- Real, authentic lives/relationships
- Equipping children and youth as well as adults for destiny
From these nights, we feel that the Holy Spirit is leading us to delegate responsibilities and split up into several vision and ministry teams that will be meeting until Easter.
VFS & ALABAMA GIVES DAY – FEB. 2
THIS THURSDAY, Feb. 2, 2012, our community will come together for ALABAMA GIVES DAY. If you love feeding kids in need and supporting families, please support VFS. A gift of $12 provides 3 Backpack Buddy Bags (6 meals): $12 for 2012. By showing your support, it helps VFS get noticed more by others who might also be challenged to give and help continue their work in the community. Please join us on Feb. 2nd or sooner by donating online: http://algives.razoo.com/
CONTRIBUTIONS STATEMENTS
If you did not pick up your 2011 contribution statement last Sunday, they were put into the mail and you should receive them this week. If you have any questions, please contact Stacy.
AWANA BEGINS AGAIN NEXT WEDNESDAY – FEB. 8
Our Awana children’s program begins again next Wednesday from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. This is for children through 5th grade. We begin at 5:45 with a light supper for $3 (kids under 2 eat free and max of $12). You can pay at the door or online. Awana is a national children’s program that stands for “Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed” as take from 2 Timothy 2:15. Each session includes worship together, a group Bible teaching, individual time with a leader to review the Scriptures memorized that week and a time for games. Students can join this exciting program anytime. It is definitely a highlight in the middle of each week. Alpha and our youth will also be meeting during these same times on Wednesday.
VALENTINE’S SOCK HOP DANCE & DINNER – FEB. 12
On Sunday night Feb. 12th, we will be having our annual Valentine’s Dance/Dinner from 5:30 to 8:00. This year the theme is a sock hop so please dress accordingly from the 1950′s. (Have fun – watch some episodes of “Happy Days”). The food for the night will feature menu items from a diner or driven-in. The cost of $10 per person will include dinner, dancing and dessert. Childcare (which also includes dinner) will be provided for a fee of $5 per child with a maximum of $10. Tickets will be available in the lobby THIS SUNDAY. Our youth will again be serving and using this as a fundraiser to help them go to their S.O.S. (Summer of Service) event in Ohio. Sue Fattibene is helping to direct a group of volunteers who are working together in planning, organizing and decorating for this event. If you are interested in helping, please contact Sue.
ALPHA PREVIEW NIGHT – FEB. 15
If you missed Alpha last year, we’re beginning a new course on Wednesday nights through the first part of May. The time will be from 6:00 – 8:30. Alpha has a “non-churchy” supper club format centered around a Biblical teaching and table discussions. It has been used around the world as a chance to invite and tell others about the good news. Alpha is a major focus of our church’s outreach efforts. It’s for your family, friends, co-workers and neighbors who are far away from God. It’s for those who don’t believe or who don’t know whether they believe or not. It’s for people who don’t attend church regularly and/or don’t like “religion”. Alpha is also welcomed inside the church family so everybody is encouraged to participate at some point. Awana and youth will also be meeting during these same times. If you plan to attend or want more information, please email Gina.

PRAYER FOR THE LEISCHS
We want to extend our prayers and support to Giang, Leah and Selah Leisch. They had major damage to their house in Pinson during last week’s tornado and are having to live somewhere else until it gets repaired. During the tornado, they went through a very traumatic experience that involved the safety of their young daughter. Also back a few months ago, they lost a rental home to a fire. Let’s make sure we let them feel our encouragement during this difficult time.
IVC BUSINESS DIRECTORY
Are you in need of a plumber, mechanic, beauty consultant, computer technician, etc.? Would you like to know if there’s someone in the church who is involved in a specific business? A business directory is being compiled now by a few IVC volunteers. You can participate by getting a business card to Julie Gardner by Feb. 5th. If you’re not at church, scan one and send to her email.
